Book Description:
The adventures of Tam and Gabriel continue with more time travel, Talents, spy work, and of course, the evil Knights.
Since the gripping conclusion of Once A Witch, Tamsin Greene has been haunted by her grandmother's prophecy that she will soon be forced to make a crucial decision—one so terrible that it could harm her family forever. When she discovers that her enemy, Alistair Knight, went back in time to Victorian-era New York in order to destroy her family, Tamsin is forced to follow him into the past. Stranded all alone in the nineteenth century, Tamsin soon finds herself disguised as a lady's maid in the terrifying mansion of the evil Knight family, avoiding the watchful eye of the vicious matron, La Spider, and fending off the advances of Liam Knight. As time runs out, both families square off in a thrilling display of magic. And to her horror, Tamsin finally understands the nature of her fateful choice.

| I've said it before and I'll say it lots more: Del Rey has been completely lovely to work with. Tricia and the art dept. deserve mad props for this cover, and for the Hexed and Hammered covers as well. They brought Atticus to life and they incorporated my suggestions beautifully; I will build them a shrine and leave them offerings of gummi bears and beer. |

Book Description:
Atticus O'Sullivan has been running for 2,000 years, and he's a bit tired of it. After he stole a magical sword from the Tuatha Dé Danann (those who became the Sidhe or the Fae) in a first century battle, some of them were furious and gave chase, and some were secretly amused that a Druid had the cheek to defy them. As the centuries passed and Atticus remained a fugitive—an annoyingly long-lived one, at that—those who were furious only grew more so, while others began to aid him in secret.
Now he's living in Tempe, Arizona, the very last of the Druids, far from where the Fae can easily enter this plane and find him. It's a place where many paranormals have decided to hide from the troubles of the old world—from an Icelandic vampire holding a grudge against Thor to a coven of Polish witches who ran from the German Blitzkrieg.
When Atticus hears from the Morrigan that his nemesis, Aenghus Óg, has found him once again, he decides to stay and fight rather than run. In so doing, he becomes the center of a power struggle amongst the Tuatha Dé Danann, where the sword he stole is the key to a plot to overthrow Brighid, First among the Fae. To thwart this determined deity, Atticus will need all the power he can muster to deliver himself from evil.

| Personally, I think the it's absolutely striking. It retains the ethereal and contemplative aspect of the first while the closer crop and forward angle of Alex's body adds an edge of power and assertiveness. The cityscape visible behind the cemetery is a gorgeous touch, and I love that they kept the subdued blue greys with just the splash of color being Alex's shirt (green this time). In short, I love it! |

She knows what it's like to die. Now Death wants her back.
Seventeen-year-old Pierce knows what happens to us when we die.
That's how she met John Hayden, the mysterious stranger who's made returning to normal life—or at least life as Pierce knew it before the accident—next to impossible.
Though she thought she escaped him—starting a new school in a whole new place—it turns out she was wrong. He finds her.
What does John want from her? Pierce thinks she knows... just like she knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly Heaven. But she can't stay away from him, either, especially since he's always there when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.
But if she lets herself fall any further, she might find herself back in the place she fears the most.

So any new to you covers? Any contenders for Best Sneak Peek Cover 2011? Which one is your favorite? I’m ecstatic that MAGIC SLAYS is one step closer to being in my hands, but GRAVE DANCE and FORGOTTEN SEA are my top picks.

Your blog always make me wanna read Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Adult books. :P
ReplyDeleteEleni - Well I'm biased, but aren't they the best :)
ReplyDeleteMagic Slays...I want. NOW.
ReplyDeleteI love that dress the girl is wearing in Always a Witch. So pretty!
Edna - Doesn't it look like a Lauren Kate cover?
ReplyDeleteFirst time "commenter" here! I've recently stumbled upon urban fantasy and found your blog - I love it! And this new covers section is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteSo I was intrigued by the resemblance between the Always a Witch cover with the Fallen ones, did a bit of research, and found that they're by the same artist and feature the same model: Fernanda Brussi (http://gilraen-ar-feiniel.deviantart.com/gallery/)
ennelya - Welcome to ATUF! And thanks for the cover sleuthing you did. The artist does some amazing work, but I wish the Fallen style covers had remained exclusive to that series.
