| Series: N/A Date/Publisher: July 7th 2011 by Dutton Childrens Books Cover Artist: Alberto Seveso Cover Source: The Elevensies Author Comments: Do you know what makes you feel like a real author? How about seeing your cover pop up online! Italian cover artist Alberto Seveso and designer Jeanine Henderson have created a beautiful, evocative cover featuring my beloved MC, Consuela, and now it's out for all the world to see! My Thoughts: |
When sixteen-year old Consuela discovers she can remove her skin, revealing a lustrous mother-of-pearl skeleton, she slips into a parallel world known as the Flow; a place inhabited by archetypical teens with extraordinary abilities. Crafting skins out of anything – air, water, feathers, fire – she is compelled to save ordinary people from dying before their time. Yet now someone is murdering them, one by one, and Consuela finds herself the focus of an intricate plot to end the Flow forever when all she really wants is to get back home, alive.

Roberto Carderas, a dangerous drug lord of mixed Monère heritage, arrives in Cozumel to eliminate a rival. But the jaguar-shifter has encountered a much more valuable prize on the island: Mona Lisa, the first female Monère he’s ever met—and one especially vulnerable in that she has lost her memory. Now, with all knowledge of her real life as stripped away as her defenses, Mona Lisa can be manipulated into believing…anything.
Convinced that Roberto is her kind and sensual protector, Mona Lisa thwarts all attempts at her rescue—including those made by her desperate lover Dante. As Roberto’s devious scheme gets underway, Dante can only hope that the touch of his warm flesh will reignite total recall in the body and mind of the woman he loves. They're here, and they're real...werewolves, vampires, mages, and other creatures of the night. For New York P.I. Shiarra Waynest, taking care of Others business started out as a way to stay solvent. But now business is getting very, very complicated...
Shiarra's relationship with sexy werewolf Chaz may be somewhat unconventional. Still, after a few bumps, Shia is finally ready to get serious. That means meeting family--or in this case, bringing Chaz's entire werewolf pack along for a rollicking full-moon weekend in the Catskills.
Soon after they arrive, threatening notes appear, warning Chaz to go home. Then their cabin is ransacked. Shia starts digging to find out whether it's the work of upstart teenaged werewolves or something more sinister. Yet as rumors about her vampire connections arouse the pack's hostility, Shia has to contend with other dangers. Not just from an adversary about to make his fatal intentions known, but from a threat that's even closer than she knows...

And my picks for Best & Worst…
Best Cover: Falling Under
Worst Cover: Mona Lisa Eclipsing
So any new to you covers? Any contenders for Best Sneak Peek Cover 2011? Which are your Best & Worst picks?

I love the cover for Luminous.
ReplyDeleteJen D - I really like it too. So colorful and kinda trippy :)
ReplyDeleteYou didn't like the Mona Lisa Eclipsing cover? I kinda like it. At least it goes with the rest of the series better than Mona Lisa Darkening did.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I love the story, but I am not digging what they are doing to Shia on Jess Haines' covers. The model just doesn't look as real as she did on Hunted by the Others. I have the same issue with Taken by the Others too.
Jackie - The Mona Lisa covers are all over the place and I don't really care for any of them.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Jess Haines covers, I know they have been messing around with Shia's face for some reason. I thought she looked amazing in HBTO, unrecognizable in TBTO, and admittedly a little off in DBTO, but it's a step in the right direction. Apart from her face I really like this new cover.
Great list!!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of the Dragonfire book before, but I'm definitely going to check them out.
Oooh I forgot about the Wing Slayer series. I read the first one and liked it. I should pick those up again.
The cover for Falling Under is beautiful! Would definitely get me to pick up the book.

Tara - I haven't tried the Wing Slayer books yet, but you like the first one? I might have to pick it up :)
