About the author:

To pay the rent, Julie worked in different bookstores over the years, but discovered the managers frowned upon her reading the books she was supposed to be shelving. So she turned to her other passion: training animals. She worked as a professional dog trainer for several years, dodging Chihuahua bites and overly enthusiastic Labradors, until her first book sold and she stopped training to write full-time. I always take note when one of my favorite authors is going on tour.  When that author happens to be Patricia Briggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Mercy Thompson series [she’ll be on tour this March to support the release of RIVER MARKED (Ace Hardcover; March 1, 2011; $24.95)] I enter the crazy fan stratosphere.  So it’s probably a good thing for Patricia that Arizona didn’t make the list of stops this year and both of us can be spared my desperate inquiries about when Mercy and Stefan are going to get married and have lots of walker-vampire babies.

Smart Chicks Kick It Tour

On September 13^th, 2010, eighteen of today’s most buzzed about writers of young adult paranormal romance – from international bestsellers and award winners to the genre’s hottest newcomers -- hit the road for a whirlwind twelve-city, two week tour.   Unprecedented in terms of size, scope and its organization, the highly anticipated Smart Chicks Kick It Tour (www.smartchickskickit.com) is author-organized AND author-funded, with the 18 participating authors -- or “Chicks” -- coming from a wide variety of different publishers.

This ground-breaking approach will, for the first time ever, provide fans the opportunity to meet and talk to some of their favorite authors at one time, even though the authors publish with different houses.  Featuring five to nine Chicks at every venue, the author line up in every city will be different so no two events will be exactly the same.  Kelley Armstrong (New York Times bestselling urban fantasy author of the Women of the Otherworld series), Melissa Marr (creator of The New York Times bestselling Wicked Lovely series) and Alyson Noel (New York Times bestselling author of The Immortals series) will appear at every venue.  Below you’ll find a complete listing of cities, venues and Chicks who are scheduled to appear at each event.

What can fans expect when they attend a Smart Chicks Kick It event?

Melissa: At each event, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A with the authors and get their books signed by all of the Smart Chicks. We love to get our pictures taken with our fans – but since we might be sharing a few “spoilers” we don’t allow video. We don’t want our spoilering caught on tape!
