FYI – Many of these covers are so early that I could not find pre-order links on Book Depository, Amazon, or even goodreads. You may want to bookmark this page for future reference or wait until I feature them in their release month’s Hot off the Press post.

| Swoon –Rebecca | The smoke going in her nose and out her mouth is somehow off putting. But, I didn’t love the first cover in this series either, yet the book was amazing, sooo…this one should be even better |

| So my YA has a new cover and a new title. Are you ready? -Ann | Formerly titled RAZORLAND, this is the new cover/title for Ann’s dystopian YA. I prefer the original cover, but I can see the bigger crossover appeal of the new version. Which do you like? |

Book Description:
WELCOME TO THE APOCALYPSE
In Deuce’s world, people earn the right to a name only if they survive their first fifteen years. By that point, each unnamed ‘brat’ has trained into one of three groups–Breeders, Builders, or Hunters, identifiable by the number of scars they bear on their arms. Deuce has wanted to be a Huntress for as long as she can remember.
As a Huntress, her purpose is clear—to brave the dangerous tunnels outside the enclave and bring back meat to feed the group while evading ferocious monsters known as Freaks. She’s worked toward this goal her whole life, and nothing’s going to stop her, not even a beautiful, brooding Hunter named Fade. When the mysterious boy becomes her partner, Deuce’s troubles are just beginning.
Down below, deviation from the rules is punished swiftly and harshly, and Fade doesn’t like following orders. At first she thinks he’s crazy, but as death stalks their sanctuary, and it becomes clear the elders don’t always know best, Deuce wonders if Fade might be telling the truth. Her partner confuses her; she’s never known a boy like him before, as prone to touching her gently as using his knives with feral grace.
As Deuce’s perception shifts, so does the balance in the constant battle for survival. The mindless Freaks, once considered a threat only due to their sheer numbers, show signs of cunning and strategy… but the elders refuse to heed any warnings. Despite imminent disaster, the enclave puts their faith in strictures and sacrifice instead. No matter how she tries, Deuce cannot stem the dark tide that carries her far from the only world she’s ever known.

| The cover for Play Dead is finally up on Amazon et al. As usual, they listened politely to my suggestions and ignored them. But it's not bad, and definitely fits in with the rest of the series covers. –John | I’ve loved these covers ever since the author told me that Lou is modeled after his girlfriends dog (see below). |

My Thoughts: |
| The first Hollows graphic novel is due out July 12, 2011, and I finally have a cover to show you! If you’ve not heard, this takes place in the golden year where Ivy and Rachel work together at the I.S. Rachel is the intern, but you can imagine she’s not taking a back seat to her vampire partner. This was done from Ivy’s point of view, and since Kisten was still alive during this time, we get to see him. In a tub, no less. -grin- On a more personal note, I want those boots.-Kim | Hmmm. It doesn’t look so much graphic as it does photographic. Will the inside art be the same style? I’m thrilled that Kisten will be in it, but that means I have to suffer through Ivy. So not a fan of Ivy. |

My Thoughts: |
| Yes, it’s a little bit different tone, but it’s growing on me. Even if you don’t see it now, I think you’ll understand why when you read their story. Because there’s a gentle innocence to Elisa’s character, it made this a bit more appropriate than the dark edginess of previous titles. But don’t worry – still LOTS of steaminess between Elisa and Mal, because she’s a very natural submissive and he’s…well, he’s a vampire. Need I say more? (wink). – Joey | I wouldn’t have recognized this as a Joey W. Hill cover. It’s kind of lovely. I might have to give finally try one of her books when this comes out. |

Book Description:
As servant to vampire mistress Lady Daniela, Elisa’s devotion is unwavering—except for one shocking request: destroy the children entrusted in her care. Elisa’s young charges are vampires of such potent desires as to belie their youth—given to a reckless bloodlust that makes their assimilation into the human world impossible. But there is one desperate option.
His name is Malachi, a Native American vampire who is a legend for his work with rehabilitating feline predators. With his primal understanding of the rules of survival, he is the fledglings’ last hope. But it is Elisa who is feeling the heat of his irresistible animal instincts. Now, as Malachi struggles to control the children’s impulses, he opens himself up to those of Elisa—and the passion they all share for the night could seal their fates forever.

| N/A | Sorry the image looks like mud. I thought you guys might still want to see it. I hate it when there is a style switch mid series (especially one that looks so much like her latest Dark Hunter cover). |

Book Description:
Just when you think you have it all figured out, life belts you to the ground. And when Caillen discovers a truth he'd never suspected about himself, everything in his life is turned on its head.
Desideria has a secret of her own- one that could end her life if anyone ever learns it. The last thing she expects is to meet a criminal in her sheltered world never mind find herself marooned on a hostile colony with him while his enemies try to kill them both.
As they struggle to survive, her father's favorite curse resonates. "May you get exactly what you want and live long enough to regret it."

| If you haven’t read the free shorts here on my website, I’ve bound them all into a handy-dandy collection on Smashwords (and soon on Kindle). It’s $0.99 cents if you buy there (and free here! just not in a file with a pretty cover). My husband also did the lovely art of the zombie girl on the cover. Isn’t it cute? You can click on the cover to go to the Smashwords website if you are so inclined. – Jill | I love when authors do this. Gather up a bunch of free shorts and put them together in a collection. The art is cute too and even cuter that her husband did the art. |

Collected here are 7 short, slightly twisted fairy tales retold from a zombie perspective. What if Cinderella had been undead when she went to the ball? What if Little Red Riding Hood went to Grandma’s house to eat her?

Beauty & The Zom-Beast
Zombie Cinderella
Rapunzombel
The Princess and the Zomb-Pea
Little Red Rotting Hood
Moldy-locks and the Three Bears
Sleeping Zom-Beauty
So that’s it for now. I’m going with VAMPIRE INSTICT by Joey W. Hill as my pick of the bunch. Any new-to-you covers? Which one is your favorite?

I do like the cover for Vampire Instinct. I haven't read any of those books yet so I think I'm going to check this one out when it becomes available.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the cover for Infinite Days and I'm not really a fan of the cover for the second book either.
I haven't heard of a lot of these titles so thanks for showcasing them. Enclave sounds really interesting. I do love me some dystopian!
ReplyDeleteI actually did mistake the new League cover for a DH book. I got all excited then looked closer and saw that it wasn't. I'm still excited for it though because the League books have been great.
ReplyDeleteStephanie G
Paranormal Haven
I don't really like Ivy all that much either! I don't know why, I just don't.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think I wanna see Kisten...I cried sooo hard and i don't wanna bring that back up. D:
Jamie - I've never read Joey W Hill before either. On her website, the Vampire Queen series is listed as Erotic/BDSM Paranormal Romance, but this one looks significantly tamer.
ReplyDeleteAnd the STOLEN cover looks odd to me too. The smoke effect is creepy.
Nicole - I'm excited about ENCLAVE too. What do you think of the cover switch?
Stephanie - It looks exactly like NO MERCY. I don't understand why they would do that...?
keikii - I know why. She's a whiny possessive jerk. If she was a guy, no one would put up with her. It will be bittersweet to see Kisten again...Sad but good.
Wow, these covers have me salivating for these books!!!
ReplyDelete*jumps up and down*
yllektra - You and me both. Even though I'm not loving the cover for STOLEN, I can't wait to read it.
ReplyDeleteHaha yeah I know what you mean...
ReplyDeleteIt is not sexy like the others, but still the way the girl seems to smell something.. I can't help it.. I think of food.. something really tasty and mouth-watering...hence the drooling! lmao
and gosh... I'm getting my period soon so I'm always hungry these days! :P
yllektra - I hear you :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the Blood Work and Raziel covers.
ReplyDeleteJen D - Raziel looks great, but I'm on the fence with Blood Work. I was expecting something that looked hand drawn.
ReplyDeleteI'm sad Ann Aguirre's book cover was changed. I thought the cover was great. The grunginess of it was a draw. I do think I like the new title though.
ReplyDeleteI like Harrison's cover, the colors are very much to my liking. But there really isn't any clue that the book is a graphic novel.
Great covers post! I'm annoyed about the title AND cover switch for Razorland/Enclave but will still probably buy it. I do love the Vampire Instinct cover but am so far behind on that series I doubt it'll matter. :P And since I'm commenting... soooo amening you on the Ivy hate. Most annoying character in a series I enjoy ever. But a Hollows graphic novel could still be good.
ReplyDeleteMarianna - I preferred the original Ann cover too, but I can't see a lot of guys picking it up. The new version is much more universal, so I get it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I wouldn't have guessed that Harrison's book was a graphic novel without the added text on the bottom.
Rhianna - I hate it when covers and titles change. It's just confusing. I guarantee people will think they are two different books.
And Ivy is in serious need of a staking. I'm several books behind in the series because I get so angry at Ivy that I have to stop reading. How much better would Rachel's life be without Ivy?
