On October 26th 2010, DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS by V.C. Andrews will be published, marking the 61st book to date. And this time, we’re getting vampires!
The only other V.C. Andrews book that I’m familiar with is the infamous FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC and the subsequent film adaptation starring a young Kristy Swanson:
Have you read/seen it? Are you excited for an Andrews-esque vampire series?

5 copies of DAUGHTER OF DARKNESS by V.C. Andrews
When I was a little girl, Daddy told me never to fear the dark. “We exist because of the darkness,” he told me. “All of you are daughters of darkness.” Beloved bestselling author V.C. Andrews’s passion for vampires comes to spellbinding life in a long-awaited novel of darkdesires as all-consuming—and forbidden—as in Flowers in the Attic.
One night, with the sound of a young man’s scream, high school senior Lorelei discovers that her stern but loving father, who adopted Lorelei and her sisters as infants, is no ordinary man. He has raised his beautiful girls for one purpose: to lure young men into their world of shadows. Like her sisters, Lorelei has been trained in the art of seduction and warned never to fall in love. But when she meets a handsome and charming classmate, she boldly defies her family and follows her heart—even if love is a poison. . . .
Dangerously enticing and deliriously intoxicating, V.C. Andrews’s Daughter of Darkness will leave readers thirsting for more

I read the Flowers in the Attic series when I was very young. I think I was 10 or 11. When I started to date my husband as a teen, I remember dragging him to the theater on opening night to see the movie because as a kid, this was the best thing I have ever read. And the movie stunk!

I remember reading Dawn. I think I read all the books in the series but I can't remember how old I was. But it was a really good book. Please enter me in contest. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI'm curious as to what kind of spin Andrews will put on her vamp story. I enjoyed reading and watching Flowers in the Attic...it was creepy. Thanks for another great giveaway.

I've read a couple of books by Andrews and enjoyed them. It was before I became a real book junkie so I'll have to go back and re-read some of her work.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Flowers in the Attic and I was young so I don't think I really appreciated the movie for what it was. I think I just felt it was a little weird back then. I'm definitely planning on reading the book and finding my VHS copy to watch sometime soon lol.
I'm definitely interested in her newest release. I don't know how well she'll do with vamps in her stories but I really like the sound of the blurb.
Thanks for the giveaway Abigail,

I have not read Flowers In The Attic yet, although I do own the trade paperback copy which was recently re-released. As with anything involving the supernatural, I'm definetly willing to give it a shot, but I won't be comparing it to FITA since they are written by different authors.
ReplyDeleteI've read quite a few V. C. Andrews books but I have not read Flowers In The Attic yet.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to read Daughter of Darkness.
I have actually never heard of Flowers in the Attic up until now, but it looks like a fun read I can probably pick up somewhere. As long as it has supernatural, I'm in. :)

I haven't read Flowers in the Attic or seen the movie but I've heard a lot of good things about both, and would be really interested in reading this new series.

I have read and seen Flowers in the Attic. I enjoyed the book more than the movie, but I usually do. It was really eerie!! Something I enjoy:)
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the vamp series by V.C. Andrews. I think it will be worth reading. I have read many of her books and enjoyed them.

ReplyDelete*adds to TBR list*
Good luck to everyone that enters the contest! XD
I read Flowers in the attic when I was younger and it was kind of taboo for my age, and liked it a lot. The movie was ok... not the best or worst I'd seen...
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in the giveaway.

Years ago I read the first three books in this series - including of course Flowers in the Attic. Loved it. I haven't kept up with the series since though, but Daughter of Darkness sounds great! Please count me in :D
ps - didn't the original writer V.C. Andrews die back in the 80's and the series has been ghostwritten ever since? Seems like I read that somewhere? lol
I love VC Andrews! These books were practically all I read growing up and I still love them. And vampires? Oh that's exciting.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, VC Andrews died many years ago, and her family found manuscripts she had begun and decided to hire someone to finish them. You can sort of tell a difference in the writing, too. But they're still great and I'd LOVE to win this one!
Yes, V.C. Andrews has been dead for a number of years know, but her name lives on and ghostwriters have published numerous titles under her name with great success.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've read and seen Flowers in the Attic. I remember a few differences between the film and book, espescially with the relationship between the older two siblings.
ReplyDeleteI am very excited for an Andrews-esque book! Flowers in the Attic would have been even better if that horrible grandmother got drank, haha!

I havent read Flowers in the attic.. but i do love anything supernatural... Daughters of Darkness does sound like an interesting book..
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeletethecubbygirl@gmail.com
No, I've never seen the movie or read the book. However, I have heard a lot about this author recently and would love to check out her books!
ReplyDeleteblacklagoon.blown-back(at)hotmail(dot)com
Yes, I have done both: read the book and watched the movie. The book is wonderful, but the movie did not do it justice.
ReplyDeleteA vampire-ish book is not too much of a stretch for V.C. Andrews' style. It will be interesting to read.
chakasa58(at)gmail(dot)com
I've never actually heard of Andrews until this book popped up over at Amazon. However, I'm really excited about this title.
ReplyDeletegoldeneyeddragon@gamil.com

I have not read nor seen Flowers in the Attic but I would love to get a chance to read her newest book to see if I like her writting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
apk1princess@live.com
I read all of "her" books when I was inappropriately young--honestly, I think I read "Flowers in the Attic" when I was about 9. And I will (sadly) read this.
ReplyDeletethejoyofthejoyofcooking at hotmail dot com
Flowers In The Attic is an excellent film, I have it. Very shocking and frightening but so good. Have not read the book as I was very young when I watched it. Anything that was so compelling in film would be even better on paper.
ReplyDeletejeanius91@hotmail.com
I haven't read Flowers in the Attic but I think I might have seen the movie... I'm really looking forward to Daughter of Darkness! Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeletelinaramz at yahoo dot com
I have seen the movie for flowers in the attic, but I haven't read the book. Theres still a chance that I might read it too. I am so excited for her new vampire book!
ReplyDeletecrazypplrok@gmail.com
@ MannaB, you should read the books because its a series and the other books are great as well.
ReplyDeleteI think as a teen I read the Flowers in the Attic books, Heaven series, My Sweet Audrina, Ruby series...I think that's about when I drifted away from them. With her new vamp release I'm so tempted to run to the library and pig out on them this weekend. My mom haaated that I loved those books so much lol
ReplyDeletewrittendesign at gmail dot com
I've have been super excited for the series! As for the movie! it looks so intense! I'll be checking that out. Thanks for the info!
ReplyDeletemarlenejaberblue@gmail.com
I have seen the movie and I thought it was okay. The series is giving me goosebumps just thinking about it!
ReplyDeletedemiandremi@gmail.com
I haven't seen the movie but it looks cool. The new book is gonna be awesome...I just know it!
ReplyDeletebethsanzo@gmail.com
No, I haven't seen the movie or read the book yet although I do have it in my TBR pile. I guess I need to start crack-in because I just realized I have a few of her books and now that Halloween is right around the corner this would be a great time to start reading them. If I remember right, some of her series she writes are semi suspense/horror. I think? Great contest & crossing my fingers ;)
ReplyDeleteStephmartin71(at)yahoo(dot)cim
Thanks Jen for the heads up! The movie I remember vaguely. I've only heard about this book and I'm excited to start reading books by this author. Thanks for the opportunity!

ReplyDeleteelizabethjhoskins@gmail.com
I haven't read it, but I'd really love to!
ReplyDeleteaikychien at yahoo dot com
I've never read anything by this author.
ReplyDeletelovemybabysquid@yahoo.com
I've read one VC Andrews book and I really enjoyed it. Flowers in the Attic is actually one of my priorities on my to-read list. I'm hoping to start it November.
ReplyDeleteContact info: anaavu@gmail.com
Flowers in the Attic was the first book I read from V.C. Andrews, but I liked the character Heavenly from the Casteels.
ReplyDeleteContact info: Lela192@aol.com
I read all of her books that she herself wrote and one or two later. I found the later books written by ghost writers were just not as good. I loved the flowers in the attic series. I'm horrified that they are actually turning out a vampire book under her name (she died many years ago). But like a car wreck I'm fascinated and want to see what it is about.
ReplyDeletegiveawaymommy at yahoo.com
Flowers in the Attic was the first V.C. Andrews book I read. I've bought every V.C. Andrews book since then. Right now I'm on a vampire kick. This plus V.C. Andrews is great.
