We’re holding our second Blogger Roundtable today. This time the focus is on Young Adult Fiction. TJ of Dreams & Speculation is playing hostess.
[insert bitchin graphic we need to get for this feature]
Here are the other bloggers who I’ll be discussing YA Fiction with:
- Carolyn of Book Chick City
- Shara of Calico Reaction
- Rebecca of Dirty Sexy Books
- TJ of Dreams & Speculation
- Doug of SciFiGuy
The opinions are diverse and (with the exception of me) thoughtfully articulated. Somehow I always come off as a jerk in these posts and I think I’ve outdone myself this time. Fortunately bloggers are notoriously thick-skinned, so I don’t think I’ve irrevocably burned and bridges here…I hope. Can you guess which question caused the most heated debate?
- What differentiates a young adult novel from "adult" fiction?
- Why do so many adult novels feature teenage protagonists these days? Does this automatically mean that teens can and should read it?
- The television, film, video game, and music industries have all adopted some kind of rating system. Should young adult novels also carry a rating to give teens and parents an insight into the content of a novel before they read it?
Stop by and weigh in with your thoughts. Feel free to call me a meanie
