| WHOA! EVERDARK'S preliminary cover!!! Saa-WEET!!!! I totally love it!!!! I've requested a few changes (her eyes are green, and tattoo head o' dragon needs to be on opposite shoulder) but otherwise PERFECT!! Damn fine artists at NAL!!! - Elle | I’m in love with these covers. The wash of color, the tattoos, the semi gothic background, everything! Can’t wait to get my hands on this. |

Book Description:
About the series: Riley Poe leads the series as a gritty, unconventional tattoo artist-turned-undead-slayer after her younger brother is lured into a gang led by a pair of vicious Romanian vampires. In books 1,2,and 3, Riley, a dead-sexy guardian vampire named Eli Dupre, his undead family and Riley's surrogate grandparents-who are not only Gullah root doctors but hoodoo conjurers as well--stalk the underside of Savannah, Charleston, and a trip to the Old World as they track the deadly Arcos vampires to Romania. The story unfolds through Riley's eyes in first person where you learn of Riley's torrid past, her desires, and her fears as she falls hard for Eli, becomes Victorian Arcos' obsession, and struggles not to become the very thing she fights: a vampire.

My Thoughts: |
| This is not the final cover. Quotes and such may change, but I think the artwork side of things is going to remain the same. Gene did a great job of capturing Greta's look. I asked if he could be sure and make Greta look like she might actually kill something (given that she's hands down the character most likely to to go on a killing spree) and since I'm not allowed to have Eric (the male protagonist) on the cover, it was cool that they let my evil flesh-eating Mustang be on the cover again. He even worked in the bowling alley and Greta's pet skull! – J.F. | I kind of hate that the cover shows a woman when the main character is a guy (come on Pocket, Harry Dresden is allowed on his covers). Still,it looks wicked cool. The skull in her hand is the perfect touch. |

Book Description:
Eric’s plan was simple: Marry Tabitha, his newest undead girlfriend, then kill his sire while honeymooning in Paris. But Eric’s already lousy memory is even further compromised by the machinations of his new bride’s little sister, Rachel, and he forgets about his honeymoon completely (not to mention the last twenty years). Unfortunately, Tabitha goes up against the True Immortal rulers of Europe so she can scour France for her missing husband, and Eric goes exactly the kind of berserk everyone has always feared he would…

Book Description:
In this dazzling, sensual novel, Dianne Duvall beckons readers into a world of vampires, immortals, and humans with extraordinary gifts…where passion can last forever, if you’re willing to pay the price…
Once, Sarah Bingham’s biggest challenge was making her students pay attention in class. Now, after rescuing a wounded stranger, she’s landed in the middle of a battle between corrupt vampires and powerful immortals who also need blood to survive. Roland Warbrook is the most compelling man Sarah has ever laid hands on. But his desire for her is mingled with a hunger he can barely control…
In his nine centuries of immortal existence, no woman has tempted Roland as much as Sarah. But asking her to love him is impossible—when it means forfeiting the world she’s always known, and the life he would do anything to protect…

Love the Everdark cover. But I'm biased because I love tattoos.
ReplyDeleteoh gees! I have a bunch of books to add to my list!
ReplyDeleteDottie :)
I've been wondering when the next Lewis book was going to be released, so thanks for the head's up. Why won't they let Eric be on the cover??? That has always baffled me about this series, but I suppose they're assuming it'll drive the female readers away? What bunk.
ReplyDeleteJen D. - I love them too. You should check out Elle's website for more tattoos and a familiar face.
ReplyDeleteDottie - Glad I could help :)
Rebecca - I actually think the false advertising will put more people off. If I'm expecting a female protagonist and get a male instead it bugs me. If I know going into it that its a guy, no worries.
Always thought it was weird that Lewis's books had chicks on the covers. I have Staked, with the first cover in tradeprint, it at least had a guy in the background!
ReplyDeleteShera - I understand they they don't want to alienate the mostly female fan base in UF, but I have avoided this series ever since I saw the first cover and then looked it up. The bait and switch really put me off.
