I’ve spent the past week tallying up all the nominations that came in (thank you so much to all of you who took time to nominate your favorite covers!), tracking down cover artists, and formatting the voting ballot. I can already tell the competition is going to be tough this year, so make sure to vote for your favorites and help spread the word any and every way you can.

Surprised the cover for Jim Butcher's GHOST STORY by Chris McGrath didn't make the cut. That was definitely my favorite of the year, though HOUNDED and A HUNDRED WORDS FOR HATE are definitely among my other favorites.

ReplyDeleteLoooove Chris McGrath's artwork! His Cal Leandros and Vampire Empire covers are my favorites. Glad he was represented. It was fun to vote for all the different categories.

ReplyDeleteBlood Rites stood out for me because I didn't really like it when I saw it as a picture (on this blog!), but when I saw it on the actual book I was stunned.
ReplyDeleteThe third choice in Best Foreign Cover does not match up with the picture shown. The picture is for Night Shade by Dunkle Zeit and the choice is GE Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer.

Garrett - I was shocked GHOST STORY didn't get more nominations, it was a favorite of mine too. There were definitely quite a few surprises for me too.
ReplyDeleteStarry - Believe it or not, that actually is the cover for WORLFSBANE in the picture. I thought it was a mistake too, but you can see it on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11364858-dunkle-zeit Dunkle Zeit is the German translation of Wolfsbane.
Hard to choose. Some great images with lousy type treatments and vice versa; ended up limiting myself to art alone when deciding. Hope my favorites win!
