| A big improvement for the series, I’m excited that they’re taking another look at these covers. The one above is a better match for the “Riley Jensen” feel, so hopefully Arthur’s fans will find their way over. | Nice update from the very dated original, but I do think it looks too much like the covers for her Dark Angels series. |

| This cover gives me a major creep vibe, in a good way. The yellow eyes against the blue background look fantastic. The only color I don’t like is the red for the title, it seems out of place. | I think it's the colors that are throwing me...the swirls and bubbles are nice details, but overall it's a bit much. |

| Something about the word overlay looks a little “homemade”, but I love how the image matches the actual title. Her ferocious expression and lovely face matches both halves of the phrase. | Not crazy about the font (it's a little hard to read), but I love her tail. |

| At first glance, the elements of the this cover are too “mirror perfect”, but I found myself studying the cover to find the subtle differences between each side. Still too stark for my tastes, but I like the digital hourglass. | I'm on the fence with this one...without a description, it's hard to tell how significant any of the elements are. |

| Description: Sara Jane Rispoli is just a normal sixteen-year-old girl coping with school and a developing crush— until her parents and younger brother are kidnapped, and she discovers her family has been a key figure of Chicago’s Outfit (aka the mob) for decades. Her father, grandfather and great grandfather all used their special ability, cold fury, to settle disputes between the two mob factions—the muscle and the money. And unless Sara wants the mob to think her now missing family has turned state’s evidence, she will have to fill her father’s shoes as the mob’s peacemaker, using her own cold fury.

| This cover looks like an action move, I’m a bit fan. Couple that with a great description, and this book goes straight to the TBR pile… | Love the fierceness in her expression & the metallic finish on the title. |

| I’m on the fence with this one. I love the use of whitespace and how her body curves with the tree branches, but there’s something oddly sharp about the birds that looks contrived. I’m not sure what feeling they were going for, but it didn’t work for me. | Soft and pretty. The muted colors are perfectly suited to the bittersweet description. |

| Description: Harper’s new boyfriend Logan Townsend is everything she never knew she always wanted—tall, muscular, with tousled brown hair that falls effortlessly around his face. But what’s most exciting about Logan is that he’s exhilaratingly dangerous, and dating him allows Harper to say, “buh bye” to her good-girl past and “hello” to newfound adventure. There’s only one problem with Harper’s otherwise heart-stopping romance: Logan’s twin brother Daemon. Harper knows he’s a bad seed, but she tries to look past his dark, icy stare and his chilling demeanor. After all, he and Logan are a package deal.

| I love that on a book called DANGEROUS BOY it’s the girl in the red dress who has our focus (after all, the aren’t “dangerous boys” all about how they make us feel?) | Love the primary colors & the relationship is nicely portrayed with her walking away with one guy but looking back at the other. |

| Wow, this book cover achieves all the emotion that TOUCHING THE SURFACE missed for me. Dreamy, trippy, keeps me studying the picture to figure it out. Definitely a sensual Mad Men-esque feel. Everything down to the blurred water effect over the title is well done. | It's a tad risque with her nightshirt riding up so high, but the image of her falling away from her pillow is very powerful given the premise. |

| This cover reminds me of a vamped up version of STRANGE BREW or DARK AND STORMY KNIGHTS, I like anthologies that give us a character and some great names to focus on. | I only needed to see two words to know I wanted this: Ilona Andrews. But I like the saucy expression on her face too...This feels like a Tony Mauro cover to me...anyone know? |

| This is definitely an entitled-fan-girl thumbs down, almost entirely due to my affection for Katy and Daemon. I didn’t like the cover for OBSIDIAN before I had read the book, and now that I know how fun and fantastic Katy is, I’m even more upset about the Gossip Girls, dude-in-a-wife-beater theme they have going on. Of course, I’m also going to read them all anyway… | This is much better than the debut cover. The models look much more integrated into the background this time (lighting etc), and the posing/expressions work especially the barely linked fingers. |

And our picks for Best & Worst…

ReplyDeleteI thought the same exact thing when I saw the cover, which btw is rather eye-catching with the burning text & sultry model.
I was also immediately drawn to the Erasing Time cover mostly because it has a sci-fi vibe going on, and I love me some sci-fi. Now, I'm really curious & eager to read the synopsis for the book.
