I started an amazing new job back in January working for Tor.com as a blogger and social media head for their brand new dedicated Urban Fantasy Facebook and Twitter accounts, a position I was offered because of this blog. I’ve had an unbelievably wonderful experience working for Tor/Macmillan this year, so I’m very sad to report that my position (as well as the other genre specific accounts) is going to be absorbed and managed in-house beginning Monday, December 5th. What does this mean for the Tor Urban Fantasy Twitter and Facebook accounts? I don’t know. I hope they will continue on in some capacity, but I will no longer be the one updating them.
I really applaud Tor for initiating this little experiment to specifically feature Urban Fantasy (as well as the other genres they launched dedicated accounts for), and I’m grateful to all of you who supported me from this blog on those accounts too. I’ve always had a passion for the publishing industry, especially the paranormal genres, and Tor gave me free reign to promote the genre in any and every way possible regardless of the publisher. It was amazing to be able to utilize all the contacts and resources I’ve been amassing since launching All Things Urban Fantasy more than 3 years ago, and I would love nothing more than to find another opportunity to do that.
In the meantime, All Things Urban Fantasy isn’t going any where. I’ll still be doing the occasional blog post/review on Tor.com, but I have to say goodbye to Tor.com Urban Fantasy | Facebook & @tordotUF. I’m really going to miss it.

So sad to hear this! You've done a great job with the FB and Twitter pages and I've enjoyed the posts!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amanda. You compiled an excellent stream of UF info for them, and I thought it was a bold, smart move for Macmillan to utilize bloggers. Anyway, I'm sorry they decided to pull the plug on it, but I'm glad ATUF isn't going anywhere!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad to hear that. I've been following these accounts since the beginning and have enjoyed all your posts there.
ReplyDeleteNo! So sorry to hear that chica. I had no idea :( Mac did the same with all our H&H and Crime FB/Twitter pages. I'll promote the hell out of UF on our H&H FB account.
ReplyDeleteDitto all the above! I have no doubt this 'opening' in your schedule will allow for even more awesome opportunities though. Tor.com were very smart to hire you and they're going to quickly realize it was a mistake to not figure out how to keep you on. So very glad ATUF isn't going anywhere in the meantime! You've had an incredibly huge impact in very short amounts of time, no matter where you've put your energies. I look forward to seeing what you do next. I hope you love it even more than you have this past year. In the meantime, we'll all be here tuning in daily and to give our support, even if it's only by making your numbers jump. ;) Best from your regulars - old and new.
ReplyDeleteThat's unfortunate. You were the reason I followed them--you did a great job, darlin'. Maybe you can focus on tweeting some of the things you were posting previously on your own handle?
ReplyDelete<3,
