Title: Masques
Author: Patricia Briggs
Release Date: September 28, 2010
Artist: N/A
Author Comments:
I've finished re-writing Masques, my very first book. It was a little rougher than I wanted to admit, and I'd made a number of story-level decisions that I probably would do differently if I were writing the book today. However, I decided to leave the plot (mostly) alone, because it's supposed to be a re-write of an early story, not an entirely new one. This should be out this fall (2010) sometime.
My Thoughts:
I have been dying to read this but the original sells for $200 used! Yes, it is more straight fantasy, but there are shapeshifters :) The cover looks gorgeous, not sure if Dan de Santos did this one or not.

Book Description:
After an upbringing of proper behavior and oppressive expectations, Aralorn fled her noble birthright for a life of adventure as a mercenary spy. Her latest mission involves spying on the increasingly powerful sorcerer Geoffrey ae'Magi. But in a war against an enemy armed with the powers of illusion, how do you know who the true enemy is-or where he will strike next?

Title: Night School (Blood Coven #5)
Author: Mari Mancusi
Release Date: January 4, 2011
Artist: N/A
Author Comments:
I sometimes think I write books just for the covers!! And I’ve got a brand new one to show off now, for Blood Coven Vampire Book #5 - Night School - which will be released January 2011. There’s actually two Blood Coven books out next year. Blood Ties, Book 6, will be out in October 2011. Cover for that one should be available for posting in the next couple of weeks as well. (I got a sneak peek and love it!)
My Thoughts:
I haven’t read these books yet, but they sound intriguing. And I do like the scroll design on the corners.

Book Description:
NIGHT SCHOOL
Vampires, Slayers and...FAIRIES? Sunny and Rayne McDonald are about to get SCHOOLED.
After their parents' shocking revelation about their fae heritage and an attack on their lives, the McDonald twins find themselves on the run--forced to hide out at Riverdale Academy , a boarding school for vampire slayers, deep in the Swiss Alps. With no cells, no internet, and no way to contact their vampire boyfriends--the twins are on their own.
Being a vampire stuck in a school full of slayers isn't easy. Especially with no blood substitute stocked on campus. Soon Rayne finds herself succumbing to her bloodlust and losing control--especially around the arrogant, but devastatingly handsome Corbin Billingsworth the Third--who isn't sure whether he wants to kiss her...or kill her.
But when Sunny starts acting strange, Rayne realizes Riverdale Academy may be hiding some deadly secrets of its own--leading to a showdown in Fairyland that may cost the twins their lives.

Title: By Magic Alone (Magic series #4)
Author: Tracy Madison
Release Date: December 2010

My Thoughts:
Every time I see a new cover in this series my first thought it ‘wow I wonder if I can pull off that lipstick color?’

Book Description:
Something is drawing Julia Collins to Magical Matchups. The Chicago-based dating service is a direct competitor to her own, and it’s winning. It even converted her two best friends, despite the fact that it’s run by a crackpot—if sweet—old woman named Verda who gives personality tests that rate men like fruit! She also espouses everything Julia distrusts: magic, lust, and romantic love rather than logical partnerships.
Five minutes after they’ve met, Verda introduces “the man Julia will marry”—her best friend’s ex. The old woman had better be a witch, because although Scot’s kiss ignites a fire in her soul, there’s only one way Julia can see them finding a happily ever after. By magic alone.

Title: Last of the Demon Slayers (Demon Slayers #4)
Author: Angie Fox
Release Date: December 28, 2010
Artist: N/A
Author Comments:
Remember how we've talked about how little an author has to say about his/her cover? Well in this one, they used my idea. And if I sound unduly excited, I am!
I wanted Pirate popping up from behind a tombstone and voila. Pretty snazzy. He looks quite happy for a dog in a cemetery. Then again, nothing fazes Pirate.
My Thoughts:
These are always cute covers, plus it looks like the dog is winking at us.

Book Description:
Lizzie Brown would like to have just one normal date. Instead, she gets a towering inferno with a message: her long-lost dad is a fallen angel in danger of becoming a demon. Not good. Especially since she’s a demon slayer.
Her grandma advises her to stay out of it. Her sexy-as-sin shape-shifter boyfriend would much rather she devote her attention to more carnal pursuits. And her dog’s one demand is for more bacon. After all, he can’t train his pet dragon on an empty stomach.
But Lizzie knows there’s no other choice than to hop on her Harley and help her father – even if the search for the truth brings a bad-boy slayer back into her life and leads her into the middle of a war to end all wars.

Release Date: March 2011
Artist: Gene Mollica

My Thoughts:
Very different from the individual covers, but I love it. This is a cover that would catch my eye on a bookstore shelf. I’ve only read the first book in this series, so I’ll be adding this omnibus edition to my wishlist.
Book Description:
Necromancer. Bounty hunter. Killer.
Dante Valentine has been all three in her life. But in the beginning, she was a Necromancer for hire. And while she was choosy about her jobs, there are just some you can’t turn down. Like when the Devil shows up at the door and offers her a deal. Her life – in exchange for the capture and elimination of a renegade demon. It’s an offer she can’t refuse. But how do you kill something that can’t die?
Dante Valentine, one of urban fantasy’s hottest heroines, is compiled into one volume for the first time. Included in this omnibus edition are: Working for the Devil, Dead Man Rising, The Devil’s Right Hand, Saint City Sinners, and To Hell and Back.
