**Visit Dark Faerie Tales today for her Deadly Destination tour of Leslie Parrish’s Savannah from Detective Gabe Cooper & a chance to win COLD TOUCH**

I was ecstatic when I secured the tour guide for today’s Deadly Destination.  He’s from one of my all time favorite paranormal series: The Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger…Lord Akeldama!  I spend a delightful evening with the aristocratic vampire earlier this summer and invite you to do the same if you haven’t already (you can even get the first three books in a discount ebook bundle right now for $9.99).  Below you’ll find his letter inviting you to his London home.  And if that wasn’t enough, Orbit Books has generously provided copies of the latest book, HEARTLESS, to giveaway to five commenters on this post!  See details below

Lord Akeldama’s tour of London
by
Gail Carriger

Akeldama1 copy

London 1874

A Letter of Invitation:

First, my moon of the raspberry sunset, I must welcome you in to my humble abode. Do excuse my droney-darlings, they will leave top hats and playbills on every available surface. One must excuse this as the flightiness of youth. My domicile is no where near as grand as those of the local vampire hives, but then I have no queen to keep happy, so the decorating is to my own peculiar fancy. Perhaps you will excuse its eccentricities? I should warn you, I am very fond of gild, and tassels, and frescos of cherubs frolicking. Whimsy, my dear. One is never too old for whimsy.

Now we will have to see you freshened up and changed. I will, naturally, see to such necessities as costume requires. I should never expect someone from the country to have a wardrobe to London standards. Perhaps, if we have the time, we will visit bond street and procure the necessaries, otherwise I believe Biffy may be your size. Biffy has more velvet suits and silk cravats than anyone else I know - except yours truly, of course.

Then, I think, Clarets Vampire Club for a little nosh. Not on you my dear, never without invitation, but they put on a marvelous spread even for those who are not - shall we say? - of the neck inclination. I have finally convinced them to make me a Pink Slurp - blood mixed with champagne, delectable refreshment.

Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate, #4)After that, we shall hail a Hackney and it's on to this amiable little theater in the West End. There is a delightful romp of a play on right now. Death in a Bathtub, I believe it is called. Charming execution, and the dancing girls - oh the dancing girls! - if your taste bends in that direction. If we are lucky we shall avoid Lord Ambrose, not a very nice kind of vampire and he is courting the lead actress, more fool him.

Perhaps after the play I might impose upon you further with an introduction to my dear Alexia? You will want to meet her, she's Soulless. You don't encounter one of those every day, quite the practical creature almost and artist in pragmatism, if you can imagine. Unique perspective on the world, and, I must say, her table at tea is beyond compare.

So my dearest honeysuckle,

I do hope I have tempted you to visit my little corner of London Town.

Yours, etc...

~ Lord Akeldama

About Gail Carriger

_TippyCup copyMs. Carriger began writing in order to cope with being raised in obscurity by an expatriate Brit and an incurable curmudgeon. She escaped small town life and inadvertently acquired several degrees in Higher Learning. Ms. Carriger then traveled the historic cities of Europe, subsisting entirely on biscuits secreted in her handbag. She now resides in the Colonies, surrounded by a harem of Armenian lovers, where she insists on tea imported directly from London and cats that pee into toilets. She is fond of teeny tiny hats and tropical fruit. Soulless is her first book.

Soulless Changeless Blameless Heartless Timeless

Giveaway provided by Orbit Books

5 copies of HEARTLESS by Gail Carriger

Heartless (The Parasol Protectorate, #4)
Available now from Orbit

Description:

Lady Alexia Maccon, soulless, is at it again, only this time the trouble is not her fault. When a mad ghost threatens the queen, Alexia is on the case, following a trail that leads her deep into her husband's past. Top that off with a sister who has joined the suffragette movement (shocking!), Madame Lefoux's latest mechanical invention, and a plague of zombie porcupines and Alexia barely has time to remember she happens to be eight months pregnant.

Will Alexia manage to determine who is trying to kill Queen Victoria before it is too late? Is it the vampires again or is there a traitor lurking about in wolf's clothing? And what, exactly, has taken up residence in Lord Akeldama's second best closet?

    41. Alexia would say "Whilst it is very bad manners to shoulder aside other ladies and gentlemen, I find that, while manners in most social situations MUST be rigidly adhered to if one is to live in a civil society, it is necessary, if regrettable, in certain situations to do so in order to achieve one's goals."

Conall would (perhaps) say "Who do I bloody have to throw against a wall to get my paws on this?"

Lord Akeldama: "Oh, my delectable little creme brulee, *I* of course know all there is worth knowing about this charming roman a steampunk. But my darling drones will simply WEEP RIVERS if I don't acquire it, and tears simply RUIN a cravat -- it quite droops, which is simply not something one wishes to see in one's costume...or in one's beautiful drones. If you know what I mean..."

Please, please, I gotta have it.

And yet now I am unable to procure the latest volume due to silly things like not being able to buy books due to lack of funds! Truly it is too much to be borne. But perhaps I shall get lucky over here. Surely stranger things have happened?

I absolutely adore the Parasol Protectorate books, They absolutely never get old! as an awkward wannabe-Victorian Kid I had been yearning for the perfect series to suit my love every thing Victorian. I cannot thank you enough for writing such a devastatingly witty and all around fantastic series. Soulless ranks as my favorite book ever written. I have not read heartless yet, due to an unfortunate lack of funds, but I have been hungering to read it since finishing Blameless.
