**Visit Dark Faerie Tales today for her Deadly Destination tour of Maria Lima’s Rio Seco, Texas & a chance to win BLOOD SACRIFICE**

Deadly Destinations is living up to it’s name today.  That’s because our guide is Darynda Jones's Charley Davidson…and she’s the grim reaper. Charley’s next book, SECOND GRAVE ON THE LEFT, is available on August 16th 2011 from St. Martin's Press, and today Charley is giving us the low down on her New Mexico home.  Thanks to the ever generous St. Martin’s Press, three of you who comment on this post will win a copy of the book!  See details below

Charley Davidson’s Ten Things You should Know about New Mexico
by
Darynda Jones

1. The grim reaper lives there. (That’s me, by the way. There’s a reason it’s called the Land of Enchantment.)

2. The designated NM state question is red or green? (As in, would you like red chile on your enchiladas or green? Both are delicious.)

3. You can see a waterfall in the middle of a desert, red cliffs, black volcanoes, snow-capped mountains, and the grim reaper. It is starkly beautiful, culturally rich, and deadly. (Kind of like Reyes Farrow, full of charm and dangerous grace.) First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1)

4. It is home of the grim reaper and the famous Roswell Crash Site where an alien spacecraft crash-landed in 1947 followed by a huge government cover-up. The government denies these allegations.

5. Santa Fe, the state capitol, is known as The City Different. It is the only city in the U.S. with a building ordinance that requires all buildings to exhibit a Spanish Pueblo or Territorial style of architecture. It is breathtaking and must be seen to be believed. Not unlike, say, the grim reaper.

6. Albuquerque hosts a number of events, including the largest hot air balloon festival in the world, the grim reaper, and the visually stunning Gathering of the Nations to which over 500 tribes from the U.S. and Canada travel to sing, drum, and dance.

Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2)

7. Among the many attractions are the grim reaper and extraordinary geological finds such as ice caves, a desert made of snow-white sand, and an 81-foot-deep blue hole scuba divers from all over the world come to explore.

8. Skiing and white water rafting are popular recreations in the state. So is checking out guys. But that could just be a grim reaper thing.

9. The world’s first atomic bomb was detonated at the White Sands Testing Range in 1945. The site is now called the Trinity Site.

10. New Mexico’s history is filled with Wild West characters like Billy the Kid, Buffalo Bill Cody, the grim reaper, Black Jack Ketchum, Pat Garrett, and Doc Holliday.

Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson, #3)

Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2)
Available on August 16th 2011 by St. Martin's Press

Description:

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans.

When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously? Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.

Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven…well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do? Here is your signpost for the most hilarious read of the summer: Second Grave On The Left.

Hope your publisher throws money at you and contracts another 3 (or so) books. I'd personally have trouble coming up with the next titles, though. Fourth Grave in a Northeasterly Direction, maybe? But that title may explain why I'm a reader, not writer.

I'm so jealous of all the reviewers and bloggers who've already read it - makes me wish I was a better writer & had more time - so I could start my own blog to get my hands on all the pretties earlier! (OK, I know it's more involved than that, but let me have my little fantasy world where it is *just* that easy!)
