Cover Art: Hexbound by Chloe Neill

Chloe Neill shared the cover for the next Dark Elite novel, Hexbound, due out in January 2011. I’m loving the blue green light.  No summary yet.

    The cover is definitely very well done; it's beautiful and attention-grabbing. However, I don't think that I will be picking this one up. Firespell, the 1st book in the series, did absolutely nothing for me. I was disappointed because despite my qualms with Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series I still enjoyed the books. I just didn't feel like Firespell had any depth to it; both the characters and the plot seemed shallow and unexciting. Plus, it did read like a book strictly for teens. I'm in my 20s, but I still grab the occasional YA book if I've heard good things about it and/or if I like the author. Some YA books are written in such a way that they can engage both teen and adult readers...and then there are those YA books that unfortunately come off rather immature with characters that are difficult to relate to if you're not a teenager.

    Marg - Oh, don't tell me that :) I just got FIRESPELL and I want to love it! Sadly, I know what you mean about the lack of depth in some YA books. Hopefully I'll like it better than you did :)
