| “YAY!!! Amazing and gorgeous, right?” | I wasn't nuts about the debut cover and I'm even less enthusiastic about this one. It's well done and the idea is lovely, so I thing it just comes down to a preference issue. | Straight out of fashion week, striking and a little creepy. Her expression is a little too stark and catwalk for me, but I don’t mind it over all. |

| N/A | Best Gena cover ever! Wowza. I'm in love with the red with B&W and the scene with him in the cage, and that dress! I can't say enough. | The flames of her dress are so mesmerizing, I didn’t even notice the cage in the background. Love the red. |

| N/A | This is totally generic to me... neutral thumb if I had one. | Nope, nope, nope. Above and beyond the supernatural stink lines swirling around this cover model, there is something subtly wrong with his face. |

| N/A | I love the continuity in these covers. Don always does a great job, but the neutral colors here are a surprise...a good one. | I like the color and the general concept, but the staging of the stake, tattoo, and model’s stance makes me wonder who just gave her a wedgie. |

| N/A | I know the unnaturally colored eyes are a signature look for this series, but it's getting tired for me. The colors here overall just aren't working and his stubble is a little too 1980's Miami Vice. | This cover is too CGI for my tastes. The model is too perfect and the necklace doesn’t look real. I like the color scheme, though, and how the fire compliments the golden author font. |

I’ll be revealing details slowly over the next few months, but for now here’s some teasers: 1) It’s about a minor character from PARTIALS, providing a lot of backstory for him/her (I’m not telling which). 2) You’ll get some hints about the state of the world leading up to the Break. 3) You’ll learn more about the Partials themselves than ever before.” |

| N/A | Pretty simple, but I always appreciate when these novella/short length stories get original cover art. Nice. | This novella cover is a nice compliment to the series full length titles, though there’s a little too much text for my taste. |

| N/A | Not quite a sexy as the debut with the guy staring at us, but this definitely fits the series look. Can't wait to read it.
| I’m not usually a fan of technicolor eyes, but given that these pop out of a cover that is a canvas of just one color, the effect really works. |

| N/A | Can someone please retire this poor girl? First she was on Liu's Hunter Kiss covers, then Rues' ALPHA INSTINCT and now here she is again in the exact same outfit. | I like this guy’s chin and stubble, but both of the cover models are stiff and oddly poses (and those camo pants are distracting). |

| N/A | This is exactly how a PNR about 'shape shifters in Regency-era England' should look. Love the foggy smoke coming of his sword. | The Fabio chest cracks me up, and I want this sword on a Kate Daniels cover (its smoking, just like I’ve always imagined Slayer!). I like this mix of old-school romance and paranormal elements. |

This particular assignment is pretty enjoyable... that is, until Ciel’s island resort bungalow is blown to smithereens and her client’s about-to-be-fiancé is snatched by modern-day Vikings. | “Now, the hair may still be tweaked a bit (my MC has shorter, strawberry blonde hair when she's being herself) between now and publication, but this is basically it. […] Is that KICKASS, or what? I kind of love it, if that's not horribly narcissistic to say about my own book. That girl has attitude. And they got the Viking helmet right! (Real Viking helmets do not have horns.)” | You have to see the enlarged version of this cover to appreciate it. I thought it looked a little homemade until I saw it big. There is depth and subtlety that is missing in the small version. And while I wish they'd been able to in someway convey her chameleon abilities, I do love the viking helmet. | I love how much input the author has on this process. Simple, but effective, I too love all the attitude in this cover. The magic behind her gets a little mixed up in the lightning, but her moxie and the cover quote by Diana Gabaldon are enough to land this on my TBR list. |

Did you mean to put a thumbs down on IN A FIX?
ReplyDeleteNope, good catch, I really liked that one.
DeleteI want Demon's Curse NOW!!! Such an eye-catching cover ;) Well, I definitely have few more books to add to my TBR. As to the new Lynn Viehl series covers, I've ranted about them already. That computerised Final Fantasy face is really horrible, and the eye colour is the least of its problems...
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you guys on Gena's cover!!!! All of a sudden her covers have gotten fantastic!! Like Paris' book and the new angel series coming out. But the red in the cover really does it!!! She's just turning them out lately (yay!)
ReplyDeleteUGH on CGI boy ~ thumbs waaaaay down on that nasty boy :(
-Kristin @myparahangover
I have been waiting to hear about Jessica Sim's book two! I love Showalters cover as well, a great go to author.
ReplyDeleteShould in a fix be a thumbs up from both of you? Julia's comments are all positive but there is a thumbs down.
ReplyDeleteI actually like Lynn Viehl's cover for Nightborn. The color is vibrant and eye catching. It also fits the overall motiff of her previous novels. I love it.
ReplyDeleteIn a Fix cover didn't work for me at all. That whole tough girl pose looks so "wanna-be" to me. Plus her hair, face, nothing is appealing at all. If I saw that book at a store, I wouldn't even read the back. It just isn't eye-catching...but Nightborn's cover just beckons me!
