Description
In Georgina Kincaid, succubus and she-demon, #1 New York Times bestselling author Richelle Mead has created one of her most enticing characters. But with a shot at love, and maybe even redemption, is the ultimate seductress finally going soft? Like hell she is. . .
Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations. . .to Las Vegas.
The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina's allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle—and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell's most valuable assets, but if there's any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it—no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won't include the one man she's risking everything for. . .
Review
One of my stand out favorites of the Georgina Kincaid series, SUCCUBUS REVEALED once again treads that thin line between wicked and sweet to create a fun, satisfying book that plays for the highest of stakes. Though I've missed a few books since the start of the series, and I had no difficulty jumping in with this installment, I don't think a brand new reader jumping in at book six could fully appreciate the complications that come with being a succubus with a heart of gold.
Georgie's good nature is usually framed against the backdrop of Hell's small town bureaucracy, but SUCCUBUS REVEALED gives us a chance to envision her in big city Vegas as well as kicking the petty red tape up to truly sinister levels. Wheels are definitely in motion, and though Georgie wants to believe the best of others, she doesn’t belabor her disbelief to a ridiculous extent. SUCCUBUS REVEALED reminds us all that while humor and camaraderie exist amongst the ranks of Hell’s minions, intentions are anything but pure. Teasing out the motives and connections simmering behind the scenes kept me glued to the page, and I was pleasantly surprised by how satisfyingly the end came together. As much as I don't want to see Georgina and her friends go (and I'm still very worried about one of her friends in particular), it was very satisfying to read a resolution to the struggles that have plagued Georgina from book one.
Mystery and resolution aside, Mead doesn't water down her succubus to make happy endings meet. Other than an oddly timed book tour at the very end, the events that swirl around Georgina and Seth are subtle and realistic, a fitting plot for the Father of Lies. Reading this last book has me hungry for more. For now I can go back in the series to fill in the gaps I’ve missed, but once I catch up I hope I can look forward to future stories staring this lovable cast of characters.

ReplyDelete@Jacki, I hope you like it. @Patti is right, it's sad to see the series end, but it's impossible not to be happy with how things turn out.
