Throwdown Thursday is a weekly thing [hosted by The Neverending Shelf] where we tackle books with similar characters, covers, themes, etc. to determine which one rocks more. And it is up to YOU to determine the winner!
Last weeks Throwdown asked: Waking the Witch by Kelley Armstrong - Original vs. Revised cover The verdict by split decision was the new Revised cover.
I’ve been cheated on. True we never said we’d be exclusive, but still. I knew what she was when I found her, she never tried to deny it: once iStock, always iStock. Sure I got her a top and a tattoo, but you can’t buy commitment. This isn’t even the first time its happened (though I can’t remember the title), and something tells me it won’t be the last. But after taking a look at my competition, I can’t say I really blame her: the book sounds good. But I’ll leave it to you guys to decide where she belongs:
Dead, Undead cover vs. ATUF banner
Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between by J. A. Saare
One bad corpse can ruin your whole day. No one knows that better than Rhiannon Murphy.
She’s left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance; she’s managed
to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her – until now.
The deliciously good-looking vampire Disco knows her secret, and when he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, she discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no.
But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.
Hey Abigail ~
ReplyDeleteWhat a delight to discover on Google Alert this morning.
Our girl does indeed get around. Shortly after the Dead cover was official, I began seeing her making the rounds.
It's all good, though. She wears varying looks very well.

I have to say, there is no competition for me, ATUF wins hands down! I love the atmosphere your banner has, the colours, the tattoo, basically everything! LOL ;) I'm not too keen on the book cover, it looks a bit washed out and I don't like the orange hue, although I agree the book does sound interesting.
ReplyDeleteHi Abigail,
ReplyDeleteI have to say I much prefer her in your banner, though it is great she was chosen as the cover girl for an exciting book. I prefer your version because it is much more evocative: that dark, gloomy athmosphere, with the tree branches and graveyard stone details is much stronger and mysterious than the pinkish cover. I love the details you added! :-)
wow that model does get used alot.
ReplyDeleteI love how you describe it as a lover. I love your header.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Winner is..ATUF,,,,,Come on Abigail..We love you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh so bad...LOL. Do I get the wussy vote by saying I like 'em both. The tat does give her a little more flava...
ReplyDeleteThe tramp stamp always gets them LOL!! My husband said hands down your lady wins. He thinks tatts are sexy since I have a some of my own. He better not be sucking up;)
ReplyDeleteTrini
ATUF without even having to think about it!
ReplyDeleteEgads! Such a hard decision!
ReplyDeleteAhh, this is difficult...I hate to break the consensus vote, but I love the touches in Saare's book cover. Both images are rocktastic, mind you...but if I had to choose, I'd go with "Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between." I'd much prefer to take both, though. :)
No contest for me either Abigail ATUF wins hands down, she needs to stay off book covers and stay on your header with the tat, the pretty dark skin and the book cover modeling needs to cease!

Gotta go with the "Undead" cover -- I've been madly, passionately in love with it from the first moment I saw it. So, add my vote to the minority!
ReplyDeleteWhile I like them both, I'm going to have to go with the cover. I love the softer lighting with the model.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the cover just works.
ReplyDeleteATUF wins , loving the tattoo and the dark atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is so cool! I love both, but Jamie's my girl, so I have to go her Dead, Undead and somewhere in between cover!
ReplyDeleteI love them both but I'm going to have to go with the cover. It's intriguing.
ReplyDeletehttp://stellaprice.deviantart.com/art/Exposure-101364083 <--- That harlot really gets around... ;-)
ReplyDeleteI also gotta throw my vote behind Dead, Undead, and Somewhere in Between. It's a lovely, dynamic image everywhere it shows up, though. :-)
I love both, but gotta go with Dead, Undead and Somewhere in Between. The difference in lighting allows you to see her hair better, which actually is the cool part of the photo to me - the inherent movement even though she's still. ;) Don't know if that makes sense to anyone, but Dead for the win!
ReplyDeleteSkyla - Oh, good find. That's not the one I saw, so that means there is at least one more :)
ReplyDeleteATUF wins all the way. I love everything about your banner, and I'm not a fan of the coloring they chose for the cover of the book. I do want to read the book though, it sounds great!
ReplyDeleteLove them both but gotta go with the cover. I like the muted colors and there is just something about the guy's eyes...
ReplyDeleteATUF gets my vote. The book sounds interesting, but yours is richer. No contest here.
ReplyDeleteMy vote is for Dead! I like the use of color and the background with the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThe cover. Absolutely! And I LOVE the tagline on the cover, too. The whole thing is sexy, provocative and downright fabulous.
