Well, I’ve been outed on a few sites now, not that the awards were a secret or anything like (and I’m thrilled that other bloggers have shared the news on their sites), but I think its time to make the official public announcement along with revealing the button (which I hope you will all grab from my sidebar) designed by Tynga from Tynga’s Reviews & Tynga’s Blog Design:

The 1st Annual Urban Fantasy Cover Art Awards 2009
Nominations are now being made by a Panel of Experts made up of Bloggers, Authors, Publishers, and Industry Professionals and will run until November 20th. On December 1st, the voting begins! That is when all of you take over and pick your favorites in 14 categories:
- Best Foreign (non US) Cover
- Best Anthology Cover
- Best Partial Body Cover
- Best YA Cover
- Best Chic-Lit Style Cover
- Best Male Only Cover
- Best Female Only Cover
- Best Duo Cover
- Best Male/Female with Animal Cover
- Best Floating Head Cover
- Most Unique Cover
- Best Debut Cover (a new author, or a new series/standalone for
- an established author)
- Best Covers in a Series (Books published prior to 2009 may be nominated)
- Most Anticipated Cover for 2010 (published between Jan 1st and Dec 31st 2010)
Sounds good, right? Well, not only do you get to pick the winners, but everyone who votes will be entered to win some wonderful prizes! The winning covers will be announced on December 30th. Be sure to check back on December 1st for your chance to vote and win!

ReplyDeleteAs for limiting the nominations, there are so many books out, and I really wanted to be able to focus on the covers, not necessarily the stories. Plus bloggers etc. have a wide pool from which to nominate from including less popular books.
I may do it differently next year. But readers are free to suggest covers to me and other bloggers :)
