Description

The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

Review

SILENCE is not a book to keep quiet about.  The third book in Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush saga is just as romantic, just as tortured, and just as addictive as the first two.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Patch.  I love a bad boy as much as the next girl, but Patch’s harsh and often cruel behavior in HUSH, HUSH was very hard to see past.  In CRESENDO, Patch didn’t change suddenly and become the good guy, but my perception of him altered drastically as his back story and motives were revealed.  I saw the sacrifices he was making for Nora, the risks he was taking to keep her safe, and that cast all his past actions in a very different, very romantic light.  Well in SILENCE, all of those redeeming qualities that locked Patch in my heart are back tenfold.  He’s never going to be the flowers and chocolates kind of guy, but what Patch brings is infinitely more tender.

Nora, on the other hand doesn’t benefit from the knowledge we readers have.  After being abducted, Nora awakes three months later with no memory of what happened to her and has completely forgotten about Patch and the Nephilim.   I struggled a lot with the choices she made and the risks she took given the information she had.  They struck me as extremely foolish and immature.  As pieces of her memory returned, her actions were better informed and I was able to sympathize with her again as a character, but during her amnesia, she was a hard sell.

Despite my rocky start with our heroine, I’m once again swept back into the dangerous and epically romantic love story between Patch and Nora.  I greatly appreciated the flashbacks we were given along with Nora to jog her memory since after a year, mine was a little rusty.  Plus it was great fun to get to relive some of the more memorable scenes from the previous books through different perspectives.  The ending isn’t the killer cliffhanger I’ve come to expect from this series, but it is a big fat set up for the just announced fourth and final book in the Hush, Hush saga (scheduled for release in Fall 2012), and I’m already pinning for it.
