Throwdown Thursday is a weekly thing [hosted by The Neverending Shelf] where we tackle books with similar characters, covers, themes, etc. to determine which one rocks more. And it is up to YOU to determine the winner!
Last weeks Throwdown asked: eReaders vs physical books? The verdict by split decision was physical books. I found it interesting that everyone who owned an eReader loved it, but those of us didn’t were skeptical.
I finally carved out some time to read Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews (my review will be up next week). I was just talking with Rebecca from DirtySexyBooks about how as bloggers we often have to put off books we’ve been dying to read in order to meet review obligations–not that I’m complaining as I’ve ‘obligated’ myself to read some books recently that turned out to be fantastic. And I hope to further obligate myself in the future :) See my Review Policy, but I still feel guilty when I read a book I bought myself when I have one waiting that was sent to me for review. But back to Magic Strikes, I came across the cover for the audio version and I can’t help but wondering why they bothered to recreate the cover almost exactly instead of just using the book version. Its like when they remade Psycho. Anyway, which do you prefer?

The book cover works better for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading this one right now! I prefer the book cover. I like the sword and her bruises better. The bruises on the audio look like crazy grease spots. Plus the model is the same on all the book covers, so that's who I've come to picture as Kate.
ReplyDeleteI like the book cover better. However I am not to thrilled with the chick on the book cover. She is way to skinny.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the book cover as Tina says this is the same cover model for Kate and hope it stays that way in the future....
