Throwdown Thursday is a weekly thing [hosted by The Neverending Shelf] where we tackle books with similar characters, covers, themes, etc. to determine which one rocks more. And it is up to YOU to determine the winner!
Last weeks Throwdown asked LKH vs Anita Blake: Have LKH’s comments and any perceived arrogance on her part damaged your opinion of Anita Blake (assuming the evolution of the series itself hasn’t done that already)? The verdict by split decision was…LKH comments have hurt damaged readers opinion of her (and by association Anita Blake).
Having trouble coming up with a title for your new urban fantasy? I have four options for you…wait I have basically one option for you. Once Bitten seems to be the title of choice for many UF authors.
Which one is going to rise above its common title for you?
Once Bitten (Zebra Debut) by Clare Willis (Paperback - Dec 1, 2009)

But her latest account a cosmetics line for wannabe vampires involves some unusual customer research at San Francisco's hippest private nightclub. The "undead" patrons are about as genuine as Macabre Factor's press-on fangs, but one thing is very real the skin-tingling connection Angie feels with her clients' mysterious friend, Eric Taylor. Thrills, chills and a smoldering sexy hero combine to unforgettable effect in Bianca D'Arc's irresistible new novel of paranormal romance...When police officer Sarah Petit investigates a disturbance in an abandoned building, she expects to find a few underage drinkers. Instead, she's attacked by creature straight out of a horror movie. Waking a week later in a hospital, Sarah is visited by Special Forces soldier Captain Xavier Beauvoir. And the only way to keep each other safe is to trust in an instant connection that could be their greatest strength -- or the perfect way to destroy them both...

My vote is Once Bitten, Twice Shy. Mostly because I've read it already and it's pretty good!
ReplyDelete'Once Bitten, Twice Shy' because my girl Jaz parks is one kick-ass female!
ReplyDeleteOkay not to go against the good advice of people who have read the Jaz Park's series, which am going to buy in the near future and read for myself anyway, I am going to however pick "Once Bitten Twice Dead" by Bianca D'Arc because the books premise and the description of Xavier sold me have to give this one a chance when released in 2010.
ReplyDeleteMy pick is going to be "Once Bitten Twice Dead" by Bianca D'Arc too. I just can't say no to books that have zombies in them.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Once Bitten by Kalayna Price and loved it! Definitely not your typical vampire or shifter novel with a whole lot of action and intrigue. And if you read e-books it's on-sale at Fictionwise. The ending left room for a possible series which I hope there will be.
